TALKING POINTS BY DR. JANE LANG'AT (PH. D), CHAIRPERSON OF WOMEN ENTERPRISE FUND ADVISORY BOARD DURING MANAGEMENT REVIEW MEETING ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 2ND 2023 IN NAIVASHA.

CEO WEF – Dr. (Eng). Charles Mwirigi

Members of management and staff present

Ladies and Gentlemen

I am pleased to join you today as you begin your three-day management review meeting and genuinely looking forward to a productive engagement on the exciting new journey WEF embarked on early this year.
This meeting comes at a time when the fund has just rolled out the digital lending model, in which we committed to develop efficient and effective service delivery systems for wider reach.

I take note that some of us seem to have taken a break in execution their duties despite the fact women empowerment is a key commitment of the Government, and the Fund plays a pivotal role in realizing this important objective.

As you may be aware there have been concerns that the old product offering didn’t meet the government expectations. The manual loan application process led to lengthy approval process thus inhibiting the Fund from revolving the funds as often as required and making it susceptible to fraud.

The Board is committed to turnaround the Fund and has endeavors to successfully implement digitization, review the HR Instruments, the strategic plan to align it to the Bottom-Up Transformation Agenda (BETA) among other Government priorities.

As management you carry the heavy burden of delivering the mandate of the Fund. I urge you to remain mindful of our mission and vision, and work together to achieve our goals for the women of this country. With the digitization, we must be agile to effectively respond to new challenges and grab new opportunities. It is my expectation that this will give us an opportunity to discuss the challenges we are facing as a Fund and craft ways to mitigate any potential threats to successful implementation of this new model.

I want to thank all of you for your commitment to the women empowerment agenda. As a team, we can make a positive impact by entrenching a culture of productivity as we strive to deliver on government commitments.

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU.
